We begin in 1999 towards the end of the last Vacancy, before Revd Canon Stephen Buckley's arrival.
Over sixteen years ago in October 1999, there was no Team Rector, and our sole priest was Anthony Lane, based at St Andrew's The Straits. However he had already decided to leave.
Alongside Bob Hill as a Reader, there was Robert Withers. Margaret Castle distributed the Beacon; Mary Hart ran the Ladies' Society, and John Anderson the Men's Society.
Preparations were afoot for an All Saints' Festival including an All Saints' Lunch. - Margaret Hadley was one of the organisers.
There were some nice drawings in the Beacon at this time- were these by Austen Moseley?
Father Anthony's departure was announced by Sue Biggs and Terry Payne of St Andrew's. Father Anthony went to St Paulinus, Crayford, in the London Borough of Bexley, where he is still the incumbent. He is now a 'Revd Canon'.
In 1995 he led a pilgrimage to the Holy Land for members of St Andrew's congregation, and is seen in this photo on board a camel!

April 2006, and Revd Susan Renshaw announces her move to Holy Trinity, Eckington. Susan is still the incumbent there, and recently became an honorary canon of Worcester Cathedral. Her full responsibities are:
Vicar of Eckington and Defford with Besford, Associate Priest of Overbury with Teddington, Alstone and Little Washbourne with Beckford and Ashton-under-Hill and Rural Dean of Pershore.
In July 2000, All Saints' Social Club were preparing for a Barbecue and Treasure Hunt. This consisted of a walk round Sedgley, searching for the answers to cryptic clues, ending up with a barbecue back at the club.
September 2000 - Father Stephen announces 'All Age Worship' as an integral part of our pattern of services.
In the September 2000 Beacon magazine, Father Stephen wrote of our experiment with All Age Worship as a way to attract families. These services had been pioneered during the vacancy before Stephen's arrival at All Saints' and Stephen wrote to formalise the arrangement to hold these on the first Sunday of the month. The services were one of the recommendations in the Parish Plan prepared during the Vacancy - sixteen years later they're still going strong.
